Larnaca for Retirement ?
Hi
Looking for info from expats living in Larnaca, as I am thinking of retiring to Cyprus in April next year (2012).
Is it possible to rent long term, a 1 or 2 bedroom flat, appartment or town house? (I am single).
Are there many British Expat's living in Larnaca, also, are there any Expat's social clubs in Larnaca?.
Is crime a serious issue there?.
Regarding cost of living, how expensive are typical items such as bread, milk, eggs, cereal's and meats like beef/chicken/pork. compared with the UK?
All replies would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Larnaca for Retirement ?
Larnaca has Expats, with plenty more along the east coast further up too.
Crime is on the increase duu the economic problems, with many east europeans out of work, but not as serious as people make out. Just be careful, and put valuables in a safe place, or a bank security box, not expensive.
There are Expat clubs, Rotary Clubs and charities that are always looking for volunteers to help.

Although some items are more expensive than the UK, once you get to know the local area and which shops to go to you will be able to make savings.
Shop locally wherever possible not just in the big supermarkets.
The extra costs of some shopping items are more than compensated for by the lower taxes, low community charge etc. Water bills are ridiculously low as well. Our water bills average around 20 euros for 3 months.
