Job for Plumber and Electrical engineer
We are looking at a break from UK and are interested (if our fact finding mission is ok) to move to Cyprus.
I don't mind working for an average type of wage, but obviously the better the wage the better the lifestyle! I am a plumbing and heating engineer here in England and would prefer the continue this trade in Cyprus. I am also aware that it could be quite possible to get the work done very cheaply by a local, so need feedback from expats already living there. I believe in a quality job for a fair price (not always the cheapest). Anything would be appreciated. Have a great Christmas on your sunny island  |

Check your UK papers will be recognised there.
My main question would be that of demand and who are my customers generally there. Have seen trades having work with MOD as well as expats. thanks |

From what I read on the internet, other people are working in Cyprus already with their UK qualifications. Unless they are trading illegally, it seems ok.

Re: Job for Plumber and Electrical engineer
If you turn up on time and do what is asked then you will be fine.
Generally, when you ask a local to do some work, they might turn up 1-7 days late, and not do the job to the expected standard (this is just my experience - I don't mean that every local is the same - just the ones I have dealt with). |

UK qualifications are excellent here, don't worry tho you wont have to show them.
Plumbing is a joke here and the more decent UK plumbers we can get the better. Don't expect to become a millionare though. working life is tough here, hard to earn a living. Best advice I can offer is start up on your own have enough savings to last you at least a year don't bother if you will have alot of outgoings. We have a mortgage and school fees and find it very hard to earn enough to cover our outgoings. If you don't need a mortgage and you don't have school fees then you will be fine. If you move to Larnaca you could take over my OH plumbing business as we leaving soon. |
