Smile 2017 - Moving from UK to Cyprus (with dogs)

Looking for some help/advise in moving myself and 2 dogs to cyprus, Larnaca at the end of may.
  • Can anybody recommend a shipping company for my belongings?
  • An airline for moving my dogs ( cheapest if possible!)?
  • Also any tips on things i need to do/prepare for the move..
  • Greek lessons in Larnaca

hi Rachel,

A great place to start for shipping is to check out FIDI website for a list of FAIM certified international removal companies that serve your area to make sure whoever you're using is fully qualified, licensed and independently vetted for overseas moving.

Your shipping company may also be able to help with the pets as many offer this as an additional service in partnership with a specialist pet company. We work with a company called Air Pets who are great.

Think about the things you do and don’t want to take with you. A big part of shipping costs is based on volume of items you’re taking, so de-cluttering in advance can be a great way of not paying for things you really aren’t going to use.

Another tip is to make sure when you compare quotes that they are like for like, and understand where costs are fixed or not. For example if you have an online survey and no one comes out to view your property in person, what happens if there is more volume than they expected? Are there any fees or charges that aren’t included? What are the transit times / move dates etc.

There are lots more tips about choosing reputable removals companies and your different options over on our vendor forum for International Removals advice. Hope it helps!

Kirsty
