My husband (Australian) and I are planning to move to England as soon as we can. We havent been back since prepandemic and I am incredibly homesick! Just found out about the huge blowouts in waiting times and I feel so depressed… I think I know the answer unfortunately but does anyone know if we can get a visitor visa and come back for a short visit while the spousal visa is in process? Thanks

Australian citizens don’t need a visa to visit the UK but it’s not a good idea to be in country whilst you have an application in progress as being in the UK when it’s granted will render it null and void.

Didn't he also have to send in his passport? If so doesn't that make going pretty much anywhere a moot point?

You can pay extra to keep your passport which is usually why this question comes up.
