Default Visa collection question

Hi there,
If my husband goes to the UK to collect his spouse visa, and then returns back to the US to pack and we all depart for the UK together, how long can he be in the US for before eyebrows are raised about him abandoning his visa? We need 2 months to get our lives packed etc and wondered if that is too long?
Thanks!

2 months is fine. ps don't forget, he'll be collecting his Biometric Residence Permit, not his spouse visa

pps - he can't go to the UK alone, you as his sponsor will need to go with him (or be there before him)

Oh, I didn't know that! So I will have to fly with him to collect his visa from the UK? Even if he is returning to me in the US and then we can pack up our life and depart together?

His vignette will be valid for three months so if you only need two months to finish up then you should be able to move together.
