Hi, apologies in advance if this is a stupid question. I'm applying for my daughter to register as a British citizen using the UKF form. After applying online, I have to send her passport to UKVI. As I understand, after they receive the documents, she will have to go to do her biometrics (she lives in Malaysia so I'm assuming she will have to go to capital KL to do it). Apparently, you need to bring a valid passport with you to do your biometrics. How can she do this if her passport is in UK? Or am I missing something really obvious?

If you fill in the online form you should be given the option to scan and upload your documents rather than post them to the UK.

Right, that would seem to make more sense. Not sure why I was under the impression you had to send the originals by post...

one more question on this: if you are applying online, do you know if the declarations from the two referees can be scanned and uploaded, or do hard copies of those have to be sent?

Unless the form explicitly says otherwise you should be able to scan and upload them.

I wasn't given the option to scan and upload my documents after I paid and reached the final stage of the application, so I guess I can only post the documents to Liverpool. Will copies be okay or do I have to send originals?

I’m afraid not. Looking at the online form you should have been given the option in Section 3.
