Hello All,
My wife and I are planning to get a tourist Visa to visit UK in July, can anyone tell me how long and complicated of a process is this from the UK embassy in NY city for me??
Also both of us are Indian citiczens, I am on an H1-B visa here in the US. She will be applying for the H4 (dependant visa) in India and coming to the US for the first time in July , after a stop in London. Is there a problem if she applies for both an H4 and UK Visitor visa close to each other? Should she apply for the US H4 visa before she applies for the Uk visa or should it not matter. She will be applying for the Visa's for the first time.
If someone can give me some ideas or tell me about their experience that will be of great help.
Thank You

Applying for the visa here in the US is much easier than in india. You will get it. As for her, it will be tricky. If she came to the US on H4 it might be easier than in india.
The application process in the US is simple. Fill in the form electronic or hard copy. Mail passport to consulate plus fees. Get visa, probably 6 months if first time. Or walk-in application and get visa same day. Mailing takes 2 weeks max. could take longer if they ask for more info.
in the US you can get away with 200 bucks bank staement and get the visa.
If she'll be in the UK for less than 48hrs she'll get transit visa.
NB. the majority of UK visa applicants in the US are from india.
