Hi

My husband Clive (32) is from Devon, England and I (31) am from
St.Martinville, Louisiana. We met on the internet a little over 2 years ago
when I posted an ad to form a support group around my area for people with
psoriasis ( a skin condition that I suffer with) and he responded saying he
was very far from my area didn't know what my condition was, but asked if I
would mind if he would pray for me. I responded with "of course you can I
need all the prayers I can get"...From then on we emailed, talked on the
phone, fell in LOVE and met here in Louisiana. Met at the Airport in
Lafayette, Louisiana all shakey and excited. He stayed for a week met my
family and I left with him for a week to meet his family February 2001. He
spent that summer here in Louisiana ( liked to died from the
heat)...lol..Went back to England and a few months later my 2 girls and I
went and live with him in England for 6 months. We returned August 22 and he
followed on Sept. 17,2002. We were married Sept.20,2002 and are now living
very happily. And Ash if you are reading this Clive and I may be moving to
Baton Rouge soon if he takes up an offer for employment that was offered to
him. So we will have to vist!! Good luck to all!!!

Hey Hey Sheila! I was wondering what happend with you! Haven't heard much
since Clive arrived . Pete seems to think it's a bit warm down here as well.
Actually the first summer he spent here, he said the same thing that he said
when he tried crawfish at Mardi Gras: "There's hot, and there's HOT, but this
is #&$@&! HOT!"

Good luck on Clive's employment and the move if it happens. Would love to meet
up sometime, maybe when Pete visits for our first wedding anniversary (crossing
fingers we'll be together for that).

Oh, and I don't know if Clive would be interested, but World Market in Baton
Rouge (Bluebonnet Rd off of I-10) sells Heinz Baked Beans and some other "must
have" sweets. Pete had a ball there when he visited last time. Good to hear
from you!

Ash

I am 42 and live in London, UK. Kurt is 44 and lives in NW Arkansas. It will be the second marriage for both of us - the first ones were just rehearsals! This is the *real thing*!

It is lovely to hear of where all the other Brits are from.

Take care,

Debbie

Anyway, do any of you have children from a previous marriage or are you all "just starting out" ??? My sweetie and I both do, so we'll be starting with a full house...I can hardly wait! To think that the man of my dreams was always on the other side of the ocean! Anyway, I'm glad I found this site, it helps to ease the pain of separation! Cheers! Oh and Careybear, I liked your fiance's poem website, really nice...do both of you write poetry?
Hi peachpetal....no i don't really write poety just long letters which he doesn't respond to because according to him he can't write!!! I have 2 kids from a previous marriage and he has five...his are staying with their mom in england and mine are with me half the week.

I have to go now...at the library and have to get home....

Talk more later.

Wow Sheila!! Small world I've had psoriasis most of my life and finally just got prescribed UVB treatment but haven't been using it cuz it's an hour drive there and i can't afford the gas 3 times a week. Anyway....do you still have that group...congratulations on the marriage and my fiance doesn't care about my skin condition which is my biggest self-esteem issue to this day. I love him soooo much!!!

LOL...Careybear...the group never did come about. Clive was the only one who
responded and he was my support and still is to this day. It was the first
time I had ever been up front about my psoriasis. I don't know what made me
be so honest about it all of a sudden I have had it for 20 years now. Well,
I guess I do really...He was a gift from God and that is really what I
believe. I don't know if I would have had anytime for the support group if
it had come about with Clive taking up all my free time...lol...There is a
support group on the net that I belong to with alot of nice people and a lot
of helpful advice. Email me privately if your interested and I will tell you
about it.

Cheers

I've been reading all of these and I'm just so excited by all of your wonderful stories.

My husband was here visiting other friends when we met each other in a bar/club. We kept in touch for a few years and suddenly found ourselves single and growing closer...

We went through the K-1 bullshit and it was a disaster! Nebraska hated us. He came for a visit in March 2001 and on the way home from the airport we decided to get married and for him to stay put! After all, it's where he belonged.

We let our 1-29f lapse and hired an attorney to help adjust his status.

You may have read that we just successfully completed our interview!

I'm 26 and in southwestern Indiana. He's 36 and from Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK.

It's my first marriage and his second. Funnily enough - my two best friends also married men a bit older with one "practice marriage" under their belts. We like to get together and talk about how lucky they are to have found us!

We spend quite a bit of time in the Indianapolis area and I'd be all for meeting for drinks next time we're up!

Good Luck to you all!

Sheila,

Absolute GORGEOUS dress and adorable girls. I didn't know the wedding kiss
wasn't a tradition in England. I guess Pete and I must have given the ladies
at the Wokingham Registry Office quite a shock then . His family didn't say
anything, but then again I don't think I can make them raise their eyebrows
anymore than they already do at me . Thanks for sharing. Oh, and of course
I know Sha (Cher?)! My dad keeps trying to teach Pete cajun... don't think
it's sinking in. He's coming around on the crawfish and boudin though.

I love threads like these...

I just turned 30 last month (*sigh!*) and live in Richmond, Virginia (I'm originally from the DC area, though). Mark turns 31 next month and lives in Bishop's Stortford, a town in Hertfordshire about 30 mins north of London by train.

While this will be Mark's first marriage, it is my second; neither of us has kids. My first marriage was to my high school sweetheart (at 23), and it wasn't a bad marriage; it was pretty good, actually, compared to many other marriages out there. It just took us 12 years (dating & marriage) before we realized that we were more like best friends than anything else!

So I can't say my first marriage was a "rehearsal" exactly, because my feelings for and connection with Mark are like nothing I've ever experienced with anyone else. Mark is, without a doubt, the love of my life, the person I was born to be with forever. He gives me strength I never knew I had. I know that sounds like a Hallmark card but it really is true.

I read a quote somewhere once that said, "Immature love is when you love someone because you need them. Mature love is when you need someone because you love them." I'd say that perfectly sums up our relationship!!

~ Jenney

p.s. I know there are other Virginian couples out there -- where are you!?!

p.p.s. Anyone know of some good websites out there with ideas for SMALL & SIMPLE weddings? I'm having a horrible time trying to think up something unique for us...

Hello all,

I am Jill from Long Island, New York. My fiance is Kenny from Penicuik Scotland. We met online 3 years ago March. Just got our approval and are awaiting Kenny's interview in London. We are hoping for a March wedding. This is the second marriage for both of us, I am 43 he's 40. He has two sons who will stay with their mom, but visit us in the summer. This has been so hard, but so worth the long wait.

Hey Jenney,

When Kurt and I first met on the net, we didn’t have the usual clues of sound or vision (we did not at that time have the benefit of webcams, or voice chat ) and yet we both instinctively felt a deep and amazing connection with each other, something neither of us had never felt before. That is why I said that now, our first marriages seem almost like a rehearsal, because now we truly know what it feels like to have met the person you were meant to be with! The amazing part is that when we met, those wonderful feelings escalated even higher!

p.p.s. Anyone know of some good websites out there with ideas for SMALL & SIMPLE weddings? I'm having a horrible time trying to think up something unique for us...
Kurt and I are also keen to have a small and simple wedding, especially because many of the people from the UK that I would have liked to attend, cannot come for various reasons. I have done a few internet searches, but the wedding websites (www.theknot.com, www.confetti.co.uk etc) all seem to assume that all wedding couples want the whole works! We cannot be the only ones Jenney! Do let me know if you find anything suitable.

Good luck,

Debbie
