Finally discovered that the UKVI had sent a "not straighforward" email to my lawyer on September 3 but they had a TYPO in his email address and never bothered to follow up when the email bounced.
MP 20 BD follow up: November 13 They again said that they had requested further documentation. They were STILL sending it to the wrong email address at this point.
