UK Spouse Visa first EXtension Questions

Hi all,

Here is my question and situation. I and our two kids are UK passport holder and citizens. My wife is on a spouse visa which expires on April 21 2020.

We own our own home in the UK and plan to apply for the first extension via the savings route.

However due to recent troubles in Hong Kong we all had to return here to support family in mid august 2019. We are waiting to see if things calm down here and then return to the UK.

Am I correct in saying that:

My wife MUST be in the UK at the time of applying for the visa extension?
Can the English test be done outside of the UK or must that also be done in the UK?
Are we wise to ask a solicitor to help us, or it is safe to do the process by ourselves?

Urgently trying to find a way forward.

Thank you

When do you intend to return? The issues in HK might go on for months - I fail to see what support can justify you remaining out of the UK for months at a time.
Yes, your wife has to be in the UK to apply for FLR
