Hello Everyone,

I'm a US citizen and my spouse has UK settlement. We're working on applying for a UK spouse visa for me. For the financial requirement, he has worked two part time jobs since January and will continue through August (we've just finished up being full time students at university). Through Category B 12 months proof, does it all have to come from one employer? Or can he report both part time jobs? I'm wondering because if he can report both he will cover the financial requirement easily. But if not we would have to wait six months after he returns to the UK until I can apply. Thanks in advance!

You can use salaried income from more than one employer. Which passport(s) does your husband hold?

He has a Nigerian passport, but has had leave to remain in the UK for six years now. Residency permit.

Also, could he do this for the 6 month option, or does that one have to be from one employer?

It sounds like you are both outside the UK - we would have to wait six months after he returns to the UK until I can apply. ??

If so, just having overseas income which meets the financial requirements won't meet the criteria for a visa.

Yes, I meant I would have to wait six months to apply while we accrued income in the UK. His US OPT visa expires in September so we were hoping to go the the UK together then.

I know for the financial requirement he has to show proof of a job offer in the UK that will meet the income threshold, as well as past six months in US job meeting income threshold (also asking for the 12 months category B option). I just wanted to know if the US income proof can come from two jobs, because he’s worked two part time jobs simultaneously while here in the US.

Sorry to ask another question, but how long has he been out of the UK?

Having Indefinite leave to Remain does not mean one can leave the UK for LONG absences without risking losing the status - rather like losing your Green card if absent from the US for too long.

No problem about the questions. Yes, an immigration officer mentioned this to him at his last visa renewal. He can’t be out of the country for more than six months at a time. He was home for a while under that time limit and will return before the six month limit.

Thats a big reason why we’re moving back to the UK instead of him just getting a green card in the US. We want him to get British citizenship first.
