UK Spouse Visa to EU Settlement Scheme possible?

Hello,
I came across the following on HO website today where they provided information on the EU Settlement Scheme "Who should apply":

And one of the point, that caught my interest was:

" - you’re the family member of a British citizen and you lived outside the UK in an EEA country together"

Since I am currently on a UK Spouse Visa with 2.5years, but I and my wife(British Citizen) have lived in Germany(an EEA country) for around 3years. I am wondering if it will even be possible to apply for a EU Settlement Scheme on the basis of above statement.

I mean, I don't have to switch visas but just wondering, because if one can get EU Settlement Scheme, it is a one time 5years residence permit. There is no IHS to pay and no expensive Visa fees to pay on every 2.5years extension.

Share your thoughts, might be helpful for others as well.

Cheers!
