UK spouse visa - enquiries lead to delays?

UK spouse visa - enquiries lead to delays?
I've been told by a quite few people that making enquiries leads to the application being delayed further as the officer dealing with the case will put it bottom of his workload. Has anyone else heard anything similar?

Tell the 'quite a few people' to stop saying whatever rubbish comes into their heads without a shred of evidence. No, it's not true.
