Re: UK Spouse visa
Your 30 days starts from the date you intend to travel to the UK as indicated on your application form or the date your visa is granted whichever is later.

Re: UK Spouse visa
Despite my Kenyan wife being fluent in English, my understanding is that she will be required to undertake an English language examination and produce a certificate to that effect from an approved establishment. Here in Dubai that may be an issue because there are so many colleges claiming to be UK Visa approved, but may not actually be so. Has anybody had any experience of the language test issue? She already has a certificate but that was obtained nearly 3 years ago and will by now have expired. It would have been so much easier for my wife to have been tested when in the UK but obviously that cannot happen.

Re: UK Spouse visa
Dear mentalist ,
I would recommend to just go for ielts. I have given ielts recently, got 7 band. Any other english proof like her degree could be rejected as they would ask u to get accreditation from naric first. The only down side is that ielts is valid for only 2 years . That's bad. I dont know exactly but i think i would have to give ielts again for FLR and again for ILR as well. or an expired ielts result would work ?
Dear michelle or anyone else please share your views regarding this ?

Dear mentalist,
The International English Language Testing System,[4] or IELTS /ˈaɪ.ɛlts/, is an international standardised test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers. It is jointly managed by Cambridge English Language Assessment, the British Council and IDP Education Pvt Ltd,[4] and was established in 1989. IELTS is one of the major English-language tests in the world, others being the TOEFL, TOEIC and OPI/OPIc.
There are two versions of the IELTS: the Academic Version and the General Training Version:
The Academic Version is intended for those who want to enroll in universities and other institutions of higher education and for professionals such as medical doctors and nurses who want to study or practise in an English-speaking country.
The General Training Version is intended for those planning to undertake non-academic training or to gain work experience, or for immigration purposes.
So, my suggestion is, take ielts general for immigration. The band needed is only 4.5 and as u said that ur wife is fluent. she can easily get that band

Re: UK Spouse visa
Looks good and certainly wishing you good luck. I am not great at these lists so hoping someone else will confirm.
Your sponsor should write a letter giving some background to the relationship, her wish to sponsor you, etc.
I thought the sponsorship form was just for dependents?
Why a photocopy of the land registry document? Did you download from the Internet? Is that what you are sending?
Originals of everything (including Degree, I would think) Plus a copy of everything you are sending except the application form and Appendix2, and keeping copies for yourself.
As to the flight itinerary, I just asked the travel agent to send one to me without having to actually book a flight.
We also did not include a letter from employer giving leave for 2 1/2 years! Explaining why you cannot include that in your letter of introduction is a good idea.
Why Appendix 1?

Re: UK Spouse visa
Dear Michali,
You always have been soooo helpful . Thanks for everything .... I cant appreciate enough . My sponsor has already wrote a cover letter explaining her intention to sponsor me.
As my wife is not the owner of the house and her brothers are. So, thats y they have provided the permission letter for her and myself. Plus, A property insepection document stating that there is plenty of space in the house for me and my wife.
Thats y i m providing photocopies of land registry. And latest mortgage payment slip.
I have also heard that sponsorship form is for dependents but i am providing it anyway. Its just a two page form.
As she is in between jobs, she told me that she needs her original degree thats why she is sending me attested photocopy. I think that should work . Other than that , i am providing my original degrees. What do you say?
What i have heard , they will not take appendix 1 form from me. Just appendix 2 and print of online form is required. I ll fill it up and take it with me. Now upto them whether they take it or not.
Lastly, U wrote "As to the flight itinerary, I just asked the travel agent to send one to me without having to actually book a flight. " .
This confuses me, as i am not aware of the exact timeline that when i ll be given visa. There is not fixed processing time. So, how can i provide any information regarding flight. Please guide me here. However, i wrote on my letter of introduction that i intend to travel to UK as soon as i get visa but how can i provide travel details.

Re: UK Spouse visa
I would have thought it better to send the downloaded land registry document rather than a photocopy, though to be honest, they don't look much different.
I would think a attested copy of the Degree would be fine. I am really not knowledgable on requirements regarding employment or being between jobs.
The itinerary is just to give an idea and the date is not written in stone because, as you say, you don't know when you will be issued the visa. From what I understand though is that with this new rule coming in about the thirty day limit to enter the UK following the issuance of the visa, it is best to out a date that suits you and UKVI will use that date to stamp your passport. Maybe you will apply before this new rule affects you, in which case just pick a date that will suit you. UKVI usually date the visa from the date you give or from the date it was approved. Ours was the latter. Don't put the date too far ahead if the processing times for visas in your country are quite quick as you will not be able to activate the visa before the date that is stamped in your passport. Hope all that makes sense!

Re: UK Spouse visa
So, if i am writing on my application form that i would like to travel on or after 1st July 2015 and my visa is approved in august or september, they would just give me the visa right away and i can travel after that.
But my question is still the same, do i provide any proof ? like u provided some flight proof ? What exactly did u provide. I am unable to understand that . Was it in the form of a purchased ticket ?? What exactly did travel agent provided u ? Please help.

Re: UK Spouse visa
Please elaborate.
Is that a must requirement to provide a future date ? For me applying from pakistan , they say that 90% of cases are resolved in 60 days. Keeping that in mind i m providing 1st August. And from our previous discussion here i think that providing a future date will delay the visa if the application is processed earlier. My question is if i provide an early date and it takes couple of extra months for processing. Would it effect my application? I hope not.
And lastly, is that all ? Do i need to provide any proof of my travel arrangement ?
If you are applying today & know it takes (approx) 90 days for the visa issue, put in the application that your travel date is sometime after that. As a suggestion 120 -150 days because you only have 30 days from the visa issue date. A future date rather than an earlier date if you're guessing when the visa will be issued based on the GOV.UK website for the time it takes in your country to issue a visa.

Re: UK Spouse visa
When we applied at the beginning of last year, we put a date to travel just under three months ahead of our application, as the processing time was stated as being three months (but we got our decision in two months) We could not at that time choose a date more than three months ahead. I am not sure if that rule still applies. I spoke to a travel agent who was able to send me a printout of reservations for the date we had given but no payment was made.
