UK Passport holder to marry Dual Nationality UK/US Passport Holder
I hold a British Passport and my fiance (Ruth) is a dual national - holding both a
British Passport and a US Passport. Ruth is currently working for UCSF and we intend
to get married in the US (?) in the next couple of months. I then wish to move to
live with Ruth and work in San Francisco as an Architect as soon as possible.
I would be most grateful if you could advise us upon the following:
a) Our options for obtaining the relevant visas/work permits
b) Which legal documents/visas would be required for those options
c) How long the process will take.
d) Your Legal fees for representing us and any administration costs.
Thanks
Tom

Is UCSF University of California/San Francisco division? The simpliest way for you if she is living in the US is to go the K-1 visa route. If everything is in order, should take you about 5 to 6 months.
Suggest you read the FAQ on the Fiancee Visa (K-1) http://www.k1faq.com/index.html
and then come back with any questions you have.
If you require an attorney there is one in LA that specializes in Fiancee Visas. His URL is http://members.aol.com/MDUdall/index.htm

IF you are now IN the UK:
1. You do not need an attorney if your case is uncomplicated by a previous criminal
record, health problems, or previous US visa infractions and the like.
2. Marry in the UK, and your US/UK wife files an I-130 directly at the consulate in
London for a spouse visa for you.
3. In about 8 weeks, maybe less, you get a spouse visa, and enter the US fully
adjusted to conditional resident status. More info here: A special website, just
for you, done by someone in your situation: http://www.ameriscot.com/i130/ Alvena
See the Doc Steen site here:

is not immigration advice. The information I provide is mostly gleaned from old
newsgroup posts and visa links on the internet. If you want or need a lawyer, go to:
