are the landing cards being scrapped for all nationalities or just these countries who will be permitted to use egates.

It seems like just for those countries.

'Heathrow Airport has welcomed the news that from June citizens from countries including the US and Singapore will be allowed to use e-gates at UK borders. In his Spring Statement, Chancellor Philip Hammond also confirmed that paper landing cards for those citizens would be dropped at the same time.'

For visits, you are likely to see no practical difference, but if you have a valid British passport then it makes sense to use it as you can still potentially be refused entry whilst travelling on a Canadian passport.
