Default Travelling to UK

Me and my wife are traveling back to the UK to visit family for the first time since we have moved to the US.

We were wondering when traveling back do we go in separate lines for USC's and permanent residents and when arriving in the UK is it the same for UKC and non citizens?

In both cases there will almost certainly be an immigration officer wandering around where the queues are forming to ask, and in both cases you will likely be allowed to stay as a family group, though my experience in the UK was that sometimes we went together and sometimes, as the UKC, I was directed to the UK queue and my wife to the non-UK.

You both just go through the ePassport gates at the UK border now.
