Default Surinder Singh & EU referendum

Some limits on free movement - Denying automatic free movement rights to nationals of a country outside the EU who marry an EU national, as part of measures to tackle "sham" marriages. There are also new powers to exclude people believed to be a security risk - even if they have no previous convictions.
Does anyone know what these means for the Surinder Singh route?

Who knows, depends on which way the vote goes, and if it's a no, whether the UK joins the EFTA, which will allow free movement in any case.

It's finished I guess, if the U.K stays in and its ratified it will be finished and if the U.K gets out then the U.K will enact laws to stop it.

Does everyone really think the Surinder Singh route is finished? I am about to start this route next month and plan to move to Ireland for 6 months with my Japanese wife. This would mean we would try and enter the UK in September, after the referendum.

It will take the UK at least two years AFTER the vote, if a no vote, to finally leave the EU.

Yes but if the vote is to stay in they intend to put a stop to it anyway, so it could happen quite quickly.

No-one on here can answer your question because no-one knows, you pays your money and takes your choice. It's really a hypothetical question given there are so many variables at the moment.

Nobody really knows at the moment, but I am fairly certain it is doomed in its current form - with just a few months of living in a European country required for a transfer to the UK under SS. The idea that you have "moved the center of your life" to a country for a few months is an utter joke, especially if you and/or your spouse/ partner and children, don't speak the local language. IMO, even if the SS route survives it should require "center of your life" presence in a European country for at least three years.

You're allowed to have opinions, certainly. But they don't factually answer the question posed.

Apparently you don't know what "IMO" means, which , in addition to "nobody knows", featured in my first post on this thread. As literally nobody knows, all the OP is going to get is opinions.

.... You're allowed to have opinions, certainly. .....
I am also allowed to post them on BE.

Correct!

If the UK does vote for Brexit then it'll take two years to negotiate our departure. The SS route, along with rest of the EEA Freedom of Movement, will presumably continue until this time. Beyond that is mere speculation as we don't know what our renegotiated relationship will look like.
