Spouse visa & passport name change
Hi All,
Time flies when you're having fun, my USA partner is in the UK on her fiance visa and we're getting married shortly so we're starting to look at the visa renewal for after the wedding and we started thinking about the passport side of things (with visa in). Once we're married my partner will be changing her surname, however due to the timelines that we need to adhere to for her UK spouse visa (so that she doesn't need to leave the UK) we'll be applying for the visa with her current passport, once the visa is granted she is planning on updating her USA passport with her married surname which looks like a simple task but I was wondering if the new passport will come with the spouse visa page or would we have to re-submit the passport for a copy of the visa? Sorry if the answer is obvious as I guess this is a common occurrence for pretty much all people getting married in the UK on a fiance visa. Thanks Derek |
Re: Spouse visa & passport name change
She’ll need to apply for a new BRP just as soon as she changes her passport which will be a lengthy and expensive process considering she would have only just received it. Just how tight is your timeline? When is the big day and when does her fiancée visa expire?

Having read a bit more about the process she has said that she will stay with her maiden name until we finally relocate to the USA, thanks for the advice
