Spouse Visa Extension - Sponsor's Passport
 

Hi All,

Currently scanning my supporting documents and I realised that my Sponsor's (Husband) passport has been expired. Expiration date is June 2021. Do we need to renew it before I can use it as sponsor's identity or is it acceptable to use it although it is expired? Or can I just use his Birth Certificate and Driving License?

Please tell me what to do.

I don’t think it’s relevant that it has expired. He’s still a British citizen regardless of his expiry date. I wouldn’t worry about it. I can imagine there are currently lots of expired passports due to covid. Drivers Licence is often used for proof of address, it doesn’t prove nationality.

i’m just Worried that it might have negative implication with my application if I provide expired passport as supporting document. I have my husband’s birth certificate and since he was born before January 1, 1983 so he is technically British by birth place and doesn’t need his parents supporting documents to prove it. Am I right on this?
I’ve ready somewhere that we can use his driving license as evidence of ordinary residence for the past 3 years and unfortunately, his drivers license is dated 2020-2030, so we can’t use it too as it is less than 3 years? Am I correct on this one?

Oh this is really frustrating. Immediate action, we book for fast track passport renewal application, however the earliest schedule is 15October + 7 days, that would be give me 22-24October so I still have time although that is too tight. And I’m really worried.

please advise.
