Default Spouse visa - bank statements

Hi all

I am going to submit spouse visa extension application in February 2021.

Do I need to get the bank statements stamped by Bank or can I just use the bank statements as downloaded from internet banking?

Thanks

Hi Mahii. The official guidance says this:

Bank statements must be on official bank stationery. Alternatively, electronic bank statements can also be accepted for all bank accounts (the account itself does not have to be exclusively online) as long as they are either accompanied by a letter from the bank on its headed stationery confirming that the documents are authentic or which bear the official stamp of the issuing bank on every page

Hi
Thanks for your reply. I am still bit confused.
If I download the bank statements from Barclays, do I need to ask bank to give me a letter?
thanks

If you download your statements from Barclays then they're 'electronic bank statements', so you either need the letter or each page stamped.

okay thanks. Thats alot of work then to upload so many statements. I was happy that I can just attach them after downloading from online banking, but life is not easy I guess.

thanks for your response.

You're welcome I agree that visa applications are rarely a quick and easy process.

We submitted printed HSBC bank statements without a supporting letter when we last renewed 2-3 years ago. Has anything changed?

Printed at home? No, nothing’s changed. Your ECO was just easy going.

Have booked a Biometrics Appt with the scanning/downloading option for next month. Does it matter that bank statements are on both sides of a page or should I photocopy them on to one-sided paper? Also, they want umpteen items of posted correspondence to verify co-habitation. Will they expect all 4-5 pages of such correspondence (eg. detailed utilities bill) or will the facing sheet with names/address suffice? Finally, they asked for dates when bank accounts were first opened. As it was over 25 years ago I made an educated guess, but presumably the bank can verify the actual dates. Should I include a declaration showing the correct dates when submitting my documents?

- Leave the statements as they.
- Bring the entire document.
- Not unless they specifically ask for evidence.
