Spouse Visa Accomodation Question
Dear forum members,
I am a Canadian currently on T5 youth mobility visa in the U.K. and my husband is British. After my visa ends I plan to go back to Canada and apply for the UK spouse visa from there.
We currently rent a £1430 one bed flat and my husband and I split the rent. He makes £1500 monthly. My question is that when I submit our tenancy agreement for accomodation requirements documentation, would they reject my application based on the rent is too high for him to afford alone? Of course I am still sending him my share of the rent after I go back to Canada, but can the high rent versus his income level be a cause for rejection?
Thank you all for your help!

Re: Spouse Visa Accomodation Question
Unless I have misunderstood rules, you can apply for the visa from within the UK as you are on a Tier 5 visa?
To answer your question, the authorities do not look at your outgoing, only that you meet the financial requirements level.

No need to return to Canada to apply for your visa - you can switch from within the UK. You can also use your salary to meet the financial requirements. The Home Office won’t care what you spend your money on, only that you are earning above the threshold between the two of you. If one of you meets it on your own then it will be easier from a paperwork perspective simply to only use that person’s income. It doesn’t matter whether it’s the applicant or sponsor.
