Default Spousal Visa Process

I am travelling back to UK to setup a bank account and deposit funds to meet the 6 month cash requirements for my wife visa

After applying online (assuming at end of 6 months per above) what is an expectation of time:
  1. Before visa comes through allowing the family to relocate? - not in hurry just for rough time planning
  2. After arriving whats the next step for her planning residency and passport?
We were married in the UK
Had a child in the UK

1. It depends on whether you use priority service and also whether you have any special circumstances (e.g., refused entry in the past, criminal records, etc.). Check this thread for timelines: UK Spouse Visa STRICTLY TIMELINES ONLY - NO CHAT

2. You have to apply to extend the visa in 2.5 years, and you can apply for indefinite leave to remain in another 2.5 years.

Just checking that you're aware the funds to meet the cash savings requirement don't need to be in a UK bank, a NZ bank account is fine.

Yes, the savings need to have been in yours/your wife's/joint account for a minimum of 6 months and can not have dipped below the required level in the 6 months prior to applying.

Your wife will need to apply for 2 further visas once she's living in the UK, further leave to remain (FLR) at 2.5 years, and then indefinite leave to remain (ILR) after another 2.5 years. She can apply for British citizenship immediately after she receives her ILR. Best of luck with the application.

If your child doesn’t have a British passport then you should obtain one before you start the visa application process for your wife.

Yes; so long as you were born in the UK she will be a British citizen by descent.
