Default Self Employed but applying under cash basis query

Hi everyone,

My wife will shortly be applying for a settlement visa to the UK.

I am currently self-employed but applying under savings as I am fairly new to self employment and income not yet above the required amount.

I just wondered as I am applying under cash basis do I still need to complete the self employment section of the application along with the savings section?

Some of the money in my savings is from self employment so i am just wondering which is the best way to go when the application is put in.

thanks in advance

monkey

Welcome to BE,

Please take a few minutes to have a read of the site rules, beige bar at the top, and should have you any site related problems please contact one of the moderators, names in bold at the bottom of each forum page.

You only need to show that you have had the savings under your control for the last 6 months, if the money is from a house sale then the 6 month rule is waived, so no need to complete any thing to do with earnings etc.

Thanks for your reply,

I just thought it might look a bit odd on the application if i do not complete the self-employment section, but then on the declaration of source statement say some of the savings are from self-employment.

any more thoughts?

Mike's right, you'll be fine. You don't need to fill in any of the sections relating to your employment if you're using the cash savings route. There's no problems with declaring that part of your savings are derived from your self-employment, you can put self-employment or just employment if you prefer, it won't make any difference to your application. Best of luck.
