Savings for Spouse Visa - Miltiple Accounts
Hello,
Me and my partner are planning to apply for a spouse visa after we get married in August. She’s Australian.
Were planning to apply by the savings route. We have the required £62500 from February but it’s across multiple acccounts. We both have a uk account split into current and saving and an Australian account with the same plus a joint account. It’s 8 accounts or so in total. We weren’t planning to move to the uk or would have kept things a bit tidier.
Does anyone know of people having issues with the visa assessment with multiple accounts? It’s not particularly hard to follow it’s just a lot of paper to send in.
Thanks

It’s not a great idea to try and use more than two accounts to meet the savings requirements. Doing it with eight accounts in different denominations is an even less great idea. Consolidating your money into a single joint account, preferably in pound sterling, and holding it there for six months over the £62,500 threshold would be the way to go.

Re: Savings for Spouse Visa - Miltiple Accounts
As BiP said, it's not ideal. We did go the multiple account route as we had accounts (easily over 8) spread across 3 countries, which would have been impossible to consolidate as both of us are still here in Australia. We sent in a detailed cover letter that explained our finances, split by country. We had a short summary for each country to address any conditions (e.g accessibility of term deposits/cash ISA) and then a table with account details and funds for each section. We thought it may help since we had quite a few accounts as well.
I don't think this delayed our application as the decision was made in 26BD. Although, if you plan on using an Australian term deposit, it will likely have a 30 day notice period (Federal law is what we were told, so no flexibility in the notice period). We closed our CommBank term deposit, waited the 30 days and had the money in a savings account before we submitted. We included the paper trail and explained this in the cover letter for our finances.
Hope this helps
