Savings for FLR and ILR

Savings for FLR and ILR
Sorry if this has been asked and answered but couldn't locate it. We are applying with savings only. We will be able to keep the total 62,500 for the full 5 years so I did not research this for our application. However, someone on a spouse visa facebook page I'm on was asking how much less, if any, could savings be at FLR and then ILR. Thanks in advance if anyone knows.

Re: Savings for FLR and ILR
The amount of savings needed for FLR(M) is the same £62,500 but of course if either or both partners work, then salary can be used instead. There is some discussion on whether the same amount is needed for ILR. It may be less but the present form is not that clear. We should know later this year when applicants on the five year route (under the new rules) start applying. Hopefully a new application form for ILR will soon be available and we will have a better idea of what the requirements are. I keep searching for Facebook pages dealing with these issues but I am obviously not looking in the right places!

Re: Savings for FLR and ILR
This introduction is at the beginning of Appendix FM 1.7 - the main document which specifies the 18,600 GBP income minimum and the categories under which one applies:
1. Introduction
Since 9 July 2012, the Immigration Rules have contained a financial requirement to be met by a person applying for entry clearance to, leave to remain in or indefinite leave to remain in the UK as the non-EEA national partner or dependent child of a person who is:
a British Citizen; or
present and settled in the UK; or
in the UK with refugee leave or humanitarian protection.

Does this not mean that the 18,600 GBP income per annum is applicable when applying for ILR?

It does apply for ILR but the first affected applications won't be until June.

Re: Savings for FLR and ILR
I found a useful chart which aids in combining income and savings. The person asking was retired but I didn't ask if they had a pension and if they could roll that in to the requirements. It would make the calculations a lot easier for each stage of the application process if they did. Thanks everyone
