Quick Question about settlement visa stuff
Moving from the US back to the UK.
What is a spouse visa? is it the same as a settlement visa (the one that costs 500 quid)?? Also, I have seen people posts mention getting the fingerprints done before sending the application, how do you do this?
Thanks!

I just answered you on the other thread, but did not realise you were in USA.
I presume the online process would be the same, or is it different?

Is it just easier to apply from the UK?

Not sure if you can. I know you cannot work in UK until the visa is granted.
I just posted this link on another thread. You might like to try asking there as they specialise in immigration questions

Not possible, unless you have already been admitted to the U.K. for a period exceeding 6 months.
Showing up as a tourist won't work. If you are not refused entry on arrival, you will still have to go home and apply for the right visa in your home country.

Yes you are the sponsor and it doesn't matter if you don't work but $4000 might not be considered enough to live off of until your husband finds work in the UK. I was in your exact position last March. I'm UK citizen and my Husband is american. When you send your application in you have to show that your husband is already looking for work there ie; registering with online recruitment agencies, applying online for jobs printing out possible jobs he could get. It might also be a good idea to do the same for yourself. That's what we did. The thing is your husband wont be eligible for job seekers alloance so he will need to find a job pretty quickly.
Where are you going to stay when you get here? It's quite a long winded and complicated application and expensive!
I will PM you another website that was very helpful to me when I was making my application.
Also have you considered the cost of getting here and shipping your belongings? That alone will take a big chunk out of your savings.
Last question are you SURE you ant to move here? I am now regretting it and hope to move back in a year or so!

We had already gone back to the UK to find a place to rent and paid six months' rent upfront so that was already taken care of.
You might want to wait a bit and save some more, if possible, so that you're covered when it comes to the sponsorship aspect of the application.
