Possible to apply more than three months in advance?
Hi all, so we've got our biometrics meeting tomorrow, Settlement Visa for my wife, filled out all of the paperwork etc. but I saw some documentation today that mentioned that you can apply 'up to 3 months in advance of your travel date', which is alarming as we don't intend to make the move until July or August... Is this information accurate? Should I cancel and refund my application and then wait the extra few months to apply? The application form and official websites made no mention of this and since it's so soon I don't just want to throw away £2,000 for them to just deny it! And in the event we have to cancel, is that permitted if it's the same day as the biometrics screening, with nothing having been posted? Do we have to contact the biometrics agency to cancel prior?
Basically, can I apply now for entry on August 1st, or would the earliest I could begin the application be May 1st? Very confused!

The information is correct. You can apply up to three months prior to your intended date of travel.

So if I were to get the biometrics done tomorrow, and post it off within two weeks,it'd ostensibly be rejected, our intended arrival being Aug. 1st? Or will they date the application 3 months later and we could theoretically collect it in Aug.? If it makes any difference, it's for a 2.5 year visa, and they let us choose any date of arrival, there was no 3 month limit or anything.

I don't know where you and your wife is just now, but what can be done is that if the spouse visa is approved and the 30 day visa given to you is dated 31 May 2016 for example, what you can do is to visit the UK after 31 May 20106 with your wife and collect her BRP at the local post office then leaving the UK.

Your application won't be rejected but the maximum time you'll get would be three months in advance plus the 30 days you'll have to enter the UK so four months in total.
