This is where you start. Recent experience is that it takes about two weeks.

All British passports applications are processed, and all British passports are printed, in the UK. Applications can be submitted on-line, though I think application using a paper form is still possible.

I just renewed mine, and it took 17 days. I did it online. Daughter took my pic with iPhone. Delivered by DHL. Had to mail in old passport, and photocopy of every page of my US passport. Old pp and copies arrived back by DHL a few days later. PP is red, and does nor mention EU on the front.

It's almost enough to make me put my recently renewed British passport through the washing machine.

Be interested to know whether the EU flags have come off the front of driving licences as well.

Mine has 18 months to run, might be forced to accept the loss of a few months!
Mind you, I wonder how bad the backlog will get when people realise they can get a proper blue one again!

The words 'European Union' disappeared from the front of passports starting around the third week of March. I got mine mid March, and it was among the last few with the words still on it. There were stories in the rags about husbands and wives applying later that month, and one getting a renewed passport with the words and one without - with corresponding tales of high marital discord.

Mine was to expire in September, Glad I got red though, as US pp is blue, and would be confusing, especially when traveling with both.

On the site, it says to send in the actual second/other passport and that photocopies will not be accepted. Is this a recent change?
