Default Occupation of counter signatory for Child first British passport

Hello readers

When a child born in UK where one parent is British national and other is on spouse visa then when applying the first British passport then how rigorously the passport office check the counter signatory occupation. Because if someone couldn't find some British passport holder coincidentally holding the same occupation as listed by the Home office then what should be done?? Can it not being filled.

Can you clarify, are you asking this for yourself or on behalf of a third party? Who is ‘someone’ that can’t find a countersignatory?

If that section isn’t filled in then it’ll simply be rejected.

You will need to find someone that appears on the list. They don’t necessarily need to be a British citizen however.

British or Irish if you are applying from within the UK; British, Irish or other EU, US or Commonwealth if applying from outside the UK.

The list of occupations is quite extensive - are you sure you don’t know anyone suitable? A teacher, doctor, dentist, nurse, etc..?

Wont they redirect back to same occupation list? Or will they allow to use any occupation?

If you're living in the UK you'll be expected to know someone on the occupations list.

Hi all

I done web chat with passport adviceline and now they telling new thing which we never heard. They telling that apart of the occupation being in list the said person must have professional qualification too relevant to that occupation/role.

All the options are professional occupations so that doesn’t change much.

But they are now saying that all of these occupation holders must have relevant professional qualification too. Does it mean that if by chance you get someone who falls under that list then will he has to prove his professional qualification too?

The short answer is no.

Just because they don't have to provide proof of their qualifications when they sign, don't be tempted to get someone who actually isn't a qualified professional on the occupations list. If the passport officer has any doubts they can and will check. I'm not saying that you would do this, it's just a general warning for anyone who reads this thread in the future Best of luck, hope you can get it sorted out.
