Default Newborn passport overseas application waiting times???

Hi I'm an English man born in England to English grand parents and lived there for the past 27 years. My wife is from Colombia and we have just had a newborn baby who is 5 weeks today.
We are currently in Colombia but We are planning to move back to the UK, my wife already has her uk spouse visa Approved. We applied for our Daughters UK passport 3 weeks ago and still none the wises of when it will arrive, I have called the passport office a number of time and they are waiting for it to be examined. I also understand it says I have to wait at least 6 weeks on the website.
I guess my question is how long it takes in real time to arrive I was wondering if anyone has experienced applying for baby's passport from overseas and could share with me how long it could take?

We did ours for three kids late last year from the US....it was very fast...only two weeks.

There is another current thread from someone in Kenya who has been waiting ages. Someone on there suggest that it might take longer from some countries:

I hope it is that quick would be a dream.
Just got off the phone to the passport helpline he just echoed the same as the other times I've called, he asked where I was calling From, I said colombia, he replied that colombia is in the bottom bracket of countries so it must depend on which country your applying from, he said it would take the full 6 weeks and maybe 2 weeks for delivery.
Suppose I've just got to wait and try to take my mind off it

It possibly depends on fraud possibilities in the country where you are applying from. If you look a few threads down in the UK Citizenship/Passports forum you will find another group of people discussing first passports for kids.

One lady who applied from Nigeria has waited over 12 weeks already.

It's always good to search in the forum. There are often people in the same situation as you.

There's a general backlog at the moment so expect 6-8 weeks as a minimum.
