Default Newbie! Fiance Visa Indian to UK

Hello Guys,

I am a newbie to all this, and looking for some advice, for a few questions I have.

I am a UK resident, and fiance is Indian.

Our plan is to go down the Fiance visa route, and her to come here, where we will marry within 6 months.

So far we meet the financial and residential requirements, but I wanted to ask a couple of questions.

I am guessing I apply for her Fiance visa from the UK?

I realise I have to get married within the UK within 6 months, but I am assuming the wedding will have to be within the UK?

Would people recommend the use of a visa agent?

Finally she is a fluent English speaker - and works as an English teacher, will I need to have this proved in some way?

Any help most welcome!

Many thanks

B

No, she needs to apply for her fiancée visa from India. She's the applicant, you're the sponsor. You will need to be a British citizen or settled in the UK (hold ILR, permanent residence or Right of Abode) in order to be eligible to sponsor her.

Not entirely sure what you mean by this but if your intention is marry anywhere other than in the UK then there's little point in applying for a fiancée visa. You can wait until after you marry and then apply for a spouse visa. A fiancée visa is only useful if your fiancée wishes to marry in the UK and then stay.

Would people recommend the use of a visa agent?
That would depend on how complicated your circumstances are and how confident you are about completing the paperwork. Most applicants will not need an immigration adviser.

Finally she is a fluent English speaker - and works as an English teacher, will I need to have this proved in some way?
Yes, there is an English language requirement to meet unless she is exempt. More information here:
