Default new baby born in Canada but planning to move back to UK

Just wondering I just found out that I am expecting and baby will be born before we move back the the UK, just wondering if the new baby will be entitled to a British passport as I am British? I am dual and do are my other children. Will I be able to apply for the baby's british passport before we leave or would I have to wait till we are in the UK before applying?

Thank you

Baby will be a British Citizen at birth, and it would be advisable to get it's passport before moving, will ease any problems at immigratiion.

If the OP was born in the UK, it is very likely that she can pass on her British Citizenship to any children born overseas. However, the OP needs to bear in mind that her children will be British Citizens by descent, which means that they cannot automatically pass on their British Citizenship to their children born overseas.

Overseas first time British passport applications can take a long time. The OP may be able to save time by applying for a Canadian passport for the baby and then go to the local British High Commission to get a certificate of entitlement for the wee one.

Looking at recent processing time a passport application is likely to be quicker and certainly a lot cheaper than a ROA certificate.
