Marriage Visitor Visa - Two Applications
Hi all.
We are a UK citizen and US citizen getting married in the UK in September 2019.
We live in the NZ and will to continue to do so after the wedding.
I understand that the US citizen will need to apply for a Marriage Visitor Visa which lasts six months. This Visa is needed to give notice of the wedding and for the actual ceremony.
We want to give notice of the wedding in August 2018 (a year in advance) as we are not returning to UK at any other time before the wedding. However the Marriage Visitor Visa is only valid for 6 months. So if we give notice in Sept 2018, the 6 month Visa wouldn't cover the ceremony in Sept 2019.
Does anybody have experience of this? Can you apply twice for the Marriage Visitor Visa (once to give notice, and once for the ceremony)? Is there any downside to doing this? The other examples I found on the Forum involved couples giving the notice and getting married within the 6 month visa validity period.
Alternatively, it seems you can may be able to give notice without a vise (e.g if the US citizen is just on a visitor visa). However this gets referred to the home office, and is slightly more expensive. Does anyone have experience of this being successful?

You’ll need two marriage visitor visas. No problem in doing this.
