Length of Family\Spouse visa via Surinder Singh
Just wondering how long the initial Family/Spouse visa lasts when obtained via the Surinder Singh route?
Is there any benefits of this visa over the
Initial Entry Clearance
Limited Leave to Remain
Indefinite Leave to Remain
Does it make it any easier for the Spouse to work?
Does it make it any easier for Citizenship?
Thanks

An EEA Family Permit only lasts for six months. You can remain in the UK after it expires but you will need to reapply for another EEA Family Permit if you leave the UK after it expires. It is therefore highly recommendable to obtain an EEA residence card.

You do not need to apply for a EEA residence card providing you remain in the UK but it may be difficult to prove your right to live and work in the country without it. The cost is £65.
The EEA residence card lasts for five years. At the end of those five years you can apply for your permanent residence card. Again the current fee is £65. This will confirm your permanent right to live in the UK. Providing you are married to a British citizen, you have passed your Life in the UK test and you have proven you have a sufficient level of English language ability you can apply for British citizenship.
