ILR and eVisa expectations

Hi all,

We will be submitting our ILR application this week. My wife (applicant) has applied for and received her eVisa to replace the BRP (which expires on the 24th July).

Once we submit our application, are we right in thinking that we only need to upload our supporting documents to UKVCAS, and no physical appointment is necessary?

Thank you.

She should be able to use the ID app to submit her biometrics.

Re: ILR and eVisa expectations

Thanks, BritInParis.

We've just submitted our online application and were directed to UKVCAS to make a Biometric appointment (Next steps: Attend an appointment to provide your documents and biometrics by 10 September 2024). We logged in to UKVCAS for an appointment with same details used to get the eVisa.

My wife's BRP expires on 24 July. Could it be that the eVisa is only effective from some date in the future, and she needs a new BRP until that time? Not sure what to think..

Re: ILR and eVisa expectations

The eVisa should be valid for roughly the same dates as the BRP, i.e. the same as the underlying leave to remain.

The ‘summer’ rollout has been a bit hit and miss so far so if they’re asked her to attend an appointment then I would do so.

Re: ILR and eVisa expectations

We've booked a Biometrics appointment, so we'll just go with the flow. But they could have been a bit more transparent about the whole process.

Thanks again for you input!

One more quick query regarding uploading our supporting documents to UKVCAS, please. How long before the Bio appointment do the docs have to be uploaded? Is there any benefit to uploading them earlier rather than later?

Thank you.

Re: ILR and eVisa expectations

They just need to be uploaded prior to attending the appointment. Once you give your biometrics, they are 'locked' and passed to the Home Office for review alongside your application form. No-one will view them before then so you can keep uploading or editing until the last minute without consequence.

Many thanks for that, BritInParis  What great work you're doing here...
