Holiday to UK Does Boyo Need Visa
We are heading back to the UK in December and were wondering if our 1 year old needs a visa. We are both British passport holders but we have only applied for a Australian passport for him which he now has. We are flying into Newcastle (he'll get a Geordie passport there) but unsure if on the door they will need a visa for him in case he wants to take up work or seek benefits.
Any idea or link to this being previously answered I can't seem to figure out a good set of search terms (will blame the whisky).

Your young Aussie will have a 6 month visitors visa stamped in his passport. If you're intending to stay, I'd be getting him his own UK passport then he won't be chased to leave the country at the end of the 6 months! Not sure how he would go about accessing services whilst only a visitor!

Whilst it's always best for British citizens to enter the UK on British passports, if you're only visiting for less than six months, then your son won't require a British passport or a visa. He'll simply be stamped in as an Australian visitor.
If you are planning to return to the UK permanently then you will need to either obtain a British passport for him (probably too late for this now) or have his birth certificate and your proof of British citizenship (birth/citizenship certificates) handy when you arrive at the UK border so your son will be admitted as a British citizen.
