Default Health insurance/cover during the 6-month fiance visa stage

Hi there,

I was wondering if there is any kind of medical cover/insurance that my fiancée has to apply for whilst here in the UK on the 6-month fiance visa, and whether it's mandatory or not. If so, does this need to be applied for before she travels here? If not, what happens in the event of her needing any medical attention in the UK?

We understand that there is the IHS cover when she comes to apply for the spouse visa, but we're not sure if there's anything for the 6 month visa.

Many thanks for your time!

There is only emergency NHS cover during the fiance visa application period.

Your fiance should take out personal health insurance for this period, or she pays the fees for any medical visit/treatment.

Thanks very much for the speedy response, much appreciated.

Is there a particular insurance provider that you could recommend?

When we first moved back I contacted a broker,” active quote “ who were excellent, are free, and found us a policy with Aviva, who we have been very happy with. Our policy with Aviva includes dental and vision.
