Has anyone applied for British Citizenship for their American-born children?

Absolutely, understood. I'm still getting the hang of which buttons to press for reply in the forum, so apologies, I was replying to your post - much appreciate the information!

Over to the bottom left of each post there is a little button with scales on it, and you can give out "karma", a bit like giving a 👍, but with an attached comment. On your profile page you will see a list of karma that people have given your posts.

Sure, but then my kids have the rigamarole of producing my birth certificate (probably also death certificate) and maybe other relevant documents. I want to save them the hassle of doing that - the consular birth registration seems to do that and at 150 sterling is relatively cheap.
Glad I checked in here - I probably would have gone in the wrong direction with the MN1.
Thanks

There’s also a new ETA scheme being introduced for the UK. It won’t be relevant if your children never visit, but it’s possible that it will require British citizens to enter on a British passport when it is introduced, as for countries with similar schemes like Canada. Again, BiP (our forum pro on these matters) will probably know more.
Good luck.

Really? I thought I had to register them using a MN1 form.
No, as I said, if you are British born and bred then your kids are automatically British by descent. You just need their passports

No, not if she has registered their births. As she has apparently worked out, that step can be taken care of, once and for all, ahead of a passport application, by registering their births. Then, for the rest of their lives, all they ever need to support a British passport application, at most, is to provide a copy of their consular birth registration.

Anyone have any idea if the address to send the consular registration documents (birth certificates etc) accepts Fedex? The last thing I would trust USPS with is a bunch of difficult-to-replace birth certificates.
Thanks
