Welcome to BE.

I have moved your thread over to our UK Immigration forum. No doubt someone will be along soon to help you.

You'll need to complete Form RS1 and send it to the Home Office in Liverpool with the appropriate supporting documents. The fee is £1121. You'll have to give your biometrics at a local Post Office (£19.20) and attend a citizenship ceremony at your local council offices if you're living in the UK.

German nationality law now permits you to keep your German citizenship when you resume your British citizenship.

Re: getting British nationality back

If the OP wants his British Citizenship back as an insurance against the British voting to exit the EU, will he considers applying for a document certifying permanent residence in the UK?

https://www.gov.uk/government/public...rd-form-eea-pr

The OP said that he returned to the UK since 2004. If he is exercising treaty rights in the UK as a German for more than five years, he can apply for permanent residence in the UK. The fee (£65) is more agreeable than the application for the resumption of British Citizenship.
