Form UKF - UK Citizen by decent - Questions! :)
#91

Sorry for the late update. Been feeling quite discouraged these days. On the other hand, on September 17, I finally received an email from UK visas and immigrations. It stated that my application was in process, that all my documents have been received and that they cannot give me an update up the 6 month mark as passed. (November 28th)
As of today I haven't heard anything further. Curious to know though, is all the correspondence completed via email? Wondering this as I am unsure if I should be checking my mail box regularly or not?
Thanks everyone.

Hi! I just miraculously came across this thread and I was wondering if anyone could help?
I was born in Thailand in 98 to a British father and Thai mother. My parents were not married when I was born but they did get married after. My father's name is on my Thai birth certificate and I have all the documents including my parents marriage certificate and birth certificates. Am I eligble to apply for a British passport right away? or do I have to apply for citizenship through UKF?
I've enquired with UKVI but I've gotten mixed answers. I received an email saying that I didn't have an automatic claim to a passport because my parents were not married at the time of my birth. But from this thread and some reading online it seems that I DO have a claim? Can anyone give me an answer?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I finally have an update!
November 19th I was invited to my biometrics appointment, just a little over a week before the 6 month mark. So I am very pleased to have heard from them before the 6 months
I did run into a technical error when trying to book the appointment online via VFS Global and after paying for the appointment (£10) I was unable to book the appointment.
I found the FAQ's page on VFS Global and found that since I needed to complete the biometrics within 30 days I could do a walk in appointment at the centre nearest me. Which fortunately for me the centre is in the city over from me. I went on the 20th November and surprisingly, I completed the appointment within half an hour. (Online warned of long wait times for walk in's)
So 24 hours after receiving my invitation, I completed the biometrics and I couldn't be more excited to have the ball rolling again. Now, I know there is more waiting, waiting for approval, citizenship ceremony etc, however I was curious as to when to expect approval, if approved? Will approval be mailed to me with my documents? Or, will I receive an email notification of approval and then my documents be sent back to me?
Many thanks for any help/advice!

May I ask when you completed your biometrics? Have you heard anything in regards to your approval as of yet? If you haven't heard anything back, then my guess is that it may be a while for me yet then too!

Hiya,
I was contacted by the Consulate today and asked to come in and attend my citizenship ceremony! I Think it was about another 1.5 - 2 months wait since I was called in for biometrics, I can't remember the exact date.
Yay!!!

That’s not usually the case, no. Were any of your grandparents born in the UK?

I can confirm that we have received your biometric data from UKVCAS. At present there is no requirement for you to provide any additional information. Your application is in a queue awaiting consideration by a caseworker, you will be notified of the outcome in due course.
I hope this was of some assistance, and if you have any further issues, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
PM Exceptions
UKVI - Home Office
This is the email from UKVI...when will the approval be expected...

Had my Citizenship Ceremony today! Am officially a full Brit
I asked at the consulate if I would be given my documents along with my registration certificate and they told me no, but that my documents would be mailed back to me from the Home Office.. so anyone else still waiting on their documents better keep an eye on your mailbox!
