FLR(M) questions

Hi all, my wife and I are looking at applying for her FLR(M), as her first 2.5 years are almost up. We had a couple of questions about this application:
  • When to apply - her current permit expires in the middle of March 2019; this is 33 months from when it was issued. To ensure she ends up with 60 continuous months, do we just need to apply within a couple of months before this date, i.e. around Jan-2019? Also, does the continuous time start from when the permit was issued or from when she entered the country for the first time?
  • Fees - It looks like the current fees are £1,033 for the visa and an additional £500 for the NHS surcharge. Are these likely to change within the next few months? Are there any additional fees we haven't thought of?

Re: FLR(M) questions

It’s a good idea to apply no earlier than around two weeks before her current BRP expires, so the beginning of March.

Those are the current fees. They are usually only changed at the start of the financial year.

Those fees are not accurate.

Ah, ok, cheers. The reason we considered applying earlier was due to the wording in the FLR(M) guidance notes:

We encourage you to apply no more than 28 days before the expiry date, or no more than 28 days before you have completed 30 months in the UK with leave as a partner.
Just to confirm then, based on those notes and your comment, it would be a good idea to apply within 2-4 weeks before the expiry date on the residence permit card?

Yes, those figures are given as an example and are for Tier 2 General. It does give us an idea of the scale of fees for the different levels of service.

I wouldn’t pay too much heed to them. The actual fees for the new services are given in the link I posted.

Re: FLR(M) questions

My wife and I are currently in the process of gathering documents for her FLR(M) application.

When she moved here, we initially lived with my parents for a month. During that month, she setup her bank account and my parents' home address is the address they initially had on file for her. Since we weren't getting any mail from the bank and my parents continued to live at the same house, she only got round to changing her address to our current home with the bank in Oct last year.

The statements we have from them covering the last six month have two addresses on them. Everything up to October has my parents' address and beyond that, they have our current address, which is the address on our application.

Will this cause a problem? Is it worth writing a covering note for the statements explaining the two different addresses?

Just to add, we don't intend to use the bank statements as part of the evidence for accommodation requirements, just for financial evidence.
