First child's passport Section 5
I have a doubt about section five in the pdf guide
https://www.gov.uk/government/upload...ce-booklet.pdf
It says if the child has been British since birth I don't tick this. I know he is British by right as I the father am British other than by decent.
But it says if he has been granted a certificate of registration tick yes.
This is not the consulate birth registration certificate is it? Or is it the one supplied only by the Home office? (not applicable in my case) I am planning to get a UK style birth certificate from the local embassy here as the Spanish one is a mess and very difficult to read.
Section 5: Certificate of registration or naturalisation

The
No box
applies if the person named in
section 2 has been British since birth. You do not
need to fill in any more details in this section

Re: First child's passport Section 5
Consular birth registration and registration as a British citizen, whilst sounding similar, are not the same thing.
Your child would need to British at birth in order to have their birth registered by a diplomatic mission (consular birth registration). Registration as a British citizen is for when someone is not automatically British at birth but later has an entitlement and an application is made to the Home Office.
So in short answer 'No' to Section 5.
