Hi all,
My husband and I are considering moving to the UK. My husband is a Dual UK/US Citizen born in the UK. Our Children are UK/US Citizens born in the US, never lived in the UK. I am a US Citizen. We live in the US currently.
Regarding the financial support. I understand that only my husband's income counts, but when we move to the UK he won't be able to keep that job. My job should transfer with me. Is there any way to count my income? Or will his income still count even though he will lose his job once we move to the UK? He will get a new job in the UK just not sure what at this time.
We own a house in the US. Can we rent it out while in the UK? Are there rules against this? Should we just sell it?

It is the British sponsor's income which is taken into consideration. In this case your husband's and not yours.
If your husband cannot qualify for sponsorship by having a current job AND a job to go to in the UK then your options are:
- he goes to the UK, gets a job and then applies after 6 months for the visa
- savings, pensions, non employment income etc.
Read the following document carefully to see how you could qualify:

Yes, you can rent out your US property and sell it at a later stage if you wish..... no rules

The house can be rented, but you might want to sell it and bank your equity/ gain as funds from the sale of your home don't need to be held for 6 months to meet the "cash savings" requirement for your husband to sponsor you, if that is a route you want to consider.

Thank you so much. Just so I understand. If he applies for me in the US, but can show he has a job waiting in the UK that can count? So he will show six month income under his US job and then a letter from a new employer in the UK showing he will make at least the minimum per year needed to support me? Reading the link you posted now. Thank you!
If your husband has been working for current employer for 6 months or more AND has a job waiting for him in the UK, starting within 3 months of return, (and both jobs earn 18,600GBP or more per annum), then you can apply for the visa from the US and, upon issue, travel over together.
