Default Filipinos Spouse

So me and my Filapino GF have dated for nearly two years with me visiting her several times, she has just got her Visa to visit the UK for a month as we are planning to marry next year and i want her to experience the UK, the cold, the different lifestyle as well as seeing how she copes with being so far from her family to make sure she is 100% happy before me commit to anything more as the last thing i want is her being here and unhappy!

However i was wondering what the process is and im getting confused, I did a search as well and cannot see the answer on here. So i am a UK born and bred citizen, have a good job, savings and own house and never been married or children. We are planning to get married in the Philippines next year as she has a huge family and both my parents are dead and i have a small family so makes sense to marry there. Once we are married there do we then have to marry here in the UK as well??? i wasnt planning on getting married here but obviously i want to make sure that i do everything right.

Also she wants children within 2 years which i am more than fine with though the spose visa allows 2.5yrs residency here? so if we had children in that time would they be Philippines nationals? UK citizens or what?

Thanks in advance

Tony

Once you're married, you're married. Providing the marriage is legal in the Philippines then it will be recognised by the UK.

The initial spouse visa is for 2.5 years; you'll then need to apply for a second visa for another 2.5 years after which she will be eligible for Indefinite Leave to Remain which means she will able to stay permanently in the UK and become eligible to naturalise as a British citizen if she wants to.

Any children you have in the UK will be British citizens. You can also registered their births with the Philippine Embassy in London if you want them to be recognised as Philippine citizens as well.
