As for the FLR route, I still have no idea which form has to be completed. The one we are currently doing is for ILR presumably because she has been here five years. This is very stressful.
She's had 5 years or more to arrange to take the Life Test. I'm in the US and one has to take a Citizenship test similar to the Life test. You've just got to do it.
Your wife is from Kenya -presumable speaks English as you lived in the Middle East for many years and unless fluent in a Middle East language would have spoken English there. So reading and taking the test would not be too onerous?
You're making it more stressful than it needs be.
If you are taking the FLR again, then its the FLR(M) form AGAIN....

Why not get some legal advice as to your predicament?

20/24 is a pass mark. You would be, frankly, nuts to consider another FLR application when the Life in the UK Test is the only thing between your wife and ILR. You’ve inexplicably left it late but five weeks is enough time to get it booked.

Here's the site for booking the test, plus some additional information. https://www.gov.uk/life-in-the-uk-test

The test can be taken as many times as necessary to pass, although there must be 7 days between tests. According to the link 75% or higher is needed for a pass.

Thanks for the helpful input everyone but our application appears to be jinxed. Tried to log in to UK Gov website to book a Life Test and it says my e-mail and password don't match. Tried going back to the ILR application using the same log in details and got in, no trouble, so why cant I book a test? Tied to reset password but no confirmation e-mail reached me. What I urgently need is the nearest test location to Manchester. If we cannot get sorted, how do we get to the FLR application again? Can we use the existing application under process and say we have not done the Life test? Still confused by the cash savings issue but presumably the questions later in the application will cover that.

Just to say we have overcome the initial glitch and have booked a UK Life Test for Mon 19th April. Presumably, if she fails, we can still take the FLR route until next time.

Hello mate,
Can you kindly tell us as what difficulty are you facing when trying to fill the application form by relying on cash saving route because I am also intending to use the same route in near future. I have a thread regarding similar issue at below where experienced members have generously supported but what I want to guage is the practical difficulties. In my guess the form might still be asking employment details & documents even you are relying on cash savings.

Using cash Savings only despite earning sufficiently

We are putting our ILR/FLR application on hold until Her Indoors takes her UK Life test on 19th. As for the cash savings issue, it was simply that it states on the on-line form that you need an annual income of £18,600 before the first finance question is asked. Hope they ask appropriate questions for those taking the cash savings route. Meanwhile, does anyone know how much the NHS payment will be for ILR? I recall it was about £600 for the 2.5yrs last time.

There’s no IHS for ILR.

Finally some good news, BiP, thanks. The wife is bust studying for her Life Test. Typical question. When did the Vikings raid Britain? Was it 600AD, 789AD, 790AD or 800AD? I bet even Boris Johnson doesn't know that.

The actual test has less dates to remember than the practice tests would have you believe.

Been watching ILR stuff on You Tube and one guy says that the requested docs include a letter from Home Office to verify proof of immigration status. This would have accompanied the BRP but sadly we cannot find our copy anywhere. Any suggestions how we overcome this? It also refers to a declaration form to be signed by the sponsor/spouse allowing Home Office access to financial records. Any idea where that declaration form might be located? Finally, if the applicant has not travelled outside the UK in the last 5 years, do we need to provide a travel check? Any friendly advice would be helpful.

You don’t need to supply any Home Office letter; the BRP is sufficient. You download the declaration forms from the Home Office application website once you have completed the application form. If your wife hasn’t left the UK since she arrived then you don’t need to provide any evidence of absences because there weren’t any.
