Expired Green Card

Hi all. Moving back in June. Green Card is set to expire in May. British passport. Question is: will there be any problem getting through security at the US airport upon departure? Trying to think if America would have a reason to stop us for leaving with an out of date green card.

No concern with leaving; returning would be the issue.
