English name different to official name on passport

My spouse's English name (or the name she uses on a day to day basis) is different from her official Chinese name on her passport.

Evidence - chat logs, screenshots, referring to her name in photos by her English name - would this be OK?

Does her English name appear on her birth certificate?

Nope. No official documents.

Since it’s normal for Hongkongers to have an English given name in addition to their Chinese given name I don’t think this is likely to cause a problem. It would’ve been better if there was an official document with her English name but if you include a line in her covering letter then that should be enough. The only other thing you could be to give a sworn statement in front of a solicitor stating that she is also known by her English name since so-and-so a date.
