dual citizen living outside UK family visa question

Me and my partner (unmarried) are considering moving from Canada to UK to be closer to family as we just had a baby. I have dual citizenship Canada/UK but I haven't lived in the UK since about 2008.

I'm assuming that we would just apply through the family visa process? Can anyone give any tips?

Yes, you as the British citizen would sponsor your partner for a spouse visa. I'm presuming your child is a British citizen (obtaining citizenship from you)
