Default Dry run of completing all docs for the UK Spousal Visa

Retired (10+ years) USC husband and dual national Brit (wife) married 30 years, most of which was spent in the US need to relocate to UK to look after elderly Mother. Will complete the process from the USA.

I understand I need to apply for a Spousal Visa for my husband; we can meet the £18,600 per year income using joint US social security pensions (also have various other employment pensions but I think you all advise that too much information is not a good thing?).

Have Downloaded - Guidance notes for VAF(April 2014); Personal Details Form (VAF4A, December 2013) Family Settlement Application Form; and Appendix 2 VAF 4A, December 2013 - Financial Requirement Form.

Are there any other Forms that need to be completed?

My plan is to now start completing forms etc. (we are currently in the UK).

Am I correct so far?

Thanks

Just re-read my initial post and realise I might need further clarification as to WHO it should be that is earning the £18,600 per year income - me as sponsor or my husband whom I am sponsoring?

It's usually the British Citizen sponsor, but I believe in your case your husbands US SS pension counts. I'm sure Brit in Paris will be along with detailed info - he's our resident specialist for UK visas!

Thanks quiltman. You and I are of the same opinion but I can't remember where I read that it could be either one of us or a combination of both....... hopefully someone can clarify
Thanks again, Lmr529

If applying using employment income it must be the British sponsor.

Saving/investments/pensions can be either or joint.

Am really not sure I have the hang of posting on Forums etc but here goes again.

Form VAF4A - Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4

- does US husband who is wanting to live in UK complete this form?

If so, what about children - all at least 40 years old, living in various different States, we know some address, not all (virtually no contact for many, many years) how should he answer those questions/should we just give the latest info we have and explain about estrangement?

Hope you can help. I'll start looking at the next section.

The applicant (non-UK spouse) needs to complete all the forms, you as the UK citizen just need to supply him with a letter of support and any required evidentiary documents - he attaches these to his application. Re children, I had a similar situation for one of my adult children, and just put 'address unknown'. I didn't elaborate, the reasons weren't pertinent to my application. I obtained my spouse visa.
